Art and creative writing have long been passions of the Eastern North Carolina native, Allison Weeks Thomas. As a child, she envisioned her future career as a writer and illustrator of books living in the Big Apple.

That was until she realized that the Big Apple was not a shiny red fruit inhabited by a bespectacled, fedora wearing green inch worm with a waist coat.

While her choice of the ideal location changed, Allison’s love for the creative did not. She attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where, after nearly a decade, she earned her BA in Studio Art in 2004.

After managing a small beach market, taking real estate photography, and slinging salads at an eatery, Allison realized that she needed more schooling. So she packed up her husband, her two dogs, and her pen and inks, and headed to the deeper and dirtier south, where she earned her MA in Illustration Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2009.

As mom to three and half year old London, Allison is trying to balance the joys of mommyhood with her passion for mixed media and illustration. When she grows up, she aspires to to be an illustrator and writer of children’s books. Allison currently calls  beautiful  Asheville, North Carolina home.
