The Thursday Haps
Hope everyone has enjoyed the first installment of Artist du Jour…though really, it’s more like Artist of the Week-ish. Sorry, I’m not up on my French and I’m being too lazy to Google the French word for Week and especially -ish… feel free to comment below, especially if you know the French for ish.
Anyhoo, I have another wonderful artist to introduce you to tomorrow…Andrea Peterson. I will divulge no more, you must wait!
On a personally artistic note, I’ve been dabbling in new techniques this week. First, I tried my hand at woodburning, which, despite the numb fingers that felt a tinge sunburnt, it was great fun. And I’ve become quite fond of the piece that was produced.
I also tried my hand at stone painting this week. I’ve been wanting to make hand-painted coasters for quite some time, I just didn’t know where one could buy tumbled travertine stone tiles.
Well, thanks to the insanity that runs rampant in our household (ie the sudden whim to remodel the bathroom), I found myself on the tile aisle of Home Depot, where lo and behold sat the stones I thought I’d have to travel to some quaint Italian town’s quarry for. Though, I’m still up to travel to Italy one day, I’m relieved that I won’t have to weigh my suitcase down with stone to chisel out into coaster tiles.
I hope to have a set of coasters available for purchase in my Etsy shop by the end of next week. Any thoughts on designs you’d be interested in seeing on the stone coasters?
